What is Evathon?

Evathon 2021 is an opportunity for researchers, thinkers and innovators to design and develop intelligent ways to solve problems from the broader domain of classifications, predictions and control with evolutionary computation.

Art makes questions. Design makes solutions. Technology makes possibilities and Hackathons turn possibilities into reality. The first edition of our innovation challenge invites participants from across the nation to submit sustainable and scalable solutions to challenges from diverse domains.

The Institution

Lero, the Science Foundation Ireland Research Centre for Software, brings together expert software teams from universities and institutes of technology across Ireland in a co-ordinated centre of research excellence with a strong industry focus.Lero’s research spans a wide range of application domains from driverless cars to artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, fintech, govtech, smart communities, agtech and healthtech.

About BDS

The Biocomputing and Development Systems Group at the University of Limerick is a multi-disciplinary group that works with cutting edge Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning tools. We are based in the Computer Science and Information Systems (CSIS) Department in UL and are part of Lero, the Irish Software Engineering Research Institute. The BDS is led by Prof. Conor Ryan, who invented the popular Grammatical Evolution system in 1998, along with two of his PhD students.
